Analytics overview

For deeper analysis, select custom date ranges for granular or broad views and group metrics by daily, weekly, or monthly intervals.

Metrics explained

Metrics explained
Monthly recurring revenue (MRR)

MRR measures the predictable recurring revenue generated by all active subscriptions, normalized to a one-month period.

Movement breakdown:

  • New: First-time active subscriptions
  • Churn: Cancelled or expired subscriptions
  • FX: Currency exchange rate fluctuations

Filter behavior: Changes in MRR reflect the selected filters, allowing you to isolate specific cohorts or product performance over time.

Annual recurring revenue (ARR)

ARR is the annualized value of your current recurring revenue stream. It reflects the yearly run-rate assuming no changes in the subscriber base.

Calculation formula: ARR = MRR × 12

Net revenue

Net revenue represents the total recurring and one-time revenue actually collected from invoices paid within a specific period, excluding refunds.

Subscription churn rate

Subscription churn rate is the share of the paid starting base that lost access during the period.

Churn is shown as a rate (percentage) rather than a raw count to provide a normalized view of retention relative to the size of your active customer base. This allows you to meaningfully compare churn across periods where the total number of customers might vary significantly.

Calculation formula:

Subscription churn rate = (churned paid subscriptions ÷ paid active subscriptions at period start) × 100

Where:

  • churned paid subscriptions – paid subscriptions that lost access during the period
  • paid active subscriptions at period start – paid subscriptions active at the start of the period
Retention cohorts

Retention cohorts display the number of new paid subscriptions started during a period and how many of them remain active in subsequent months (labeled as 0, 1, 2+).

How to read it:

  • Subscriptions: Number of new paid subscriptions started during the cohort period.
  • Revenue: Total revenue from subscriptions started during the period.
  • The table helps you understand long-term customer survival and value retention for each specific signup cohort over time.

Filter behavior: Cohorts dynamically adjust to interval filters (monthly/weekly), making it easier to drill down into the retention of particular acquisition channels or plans.

Active subscriptions

An active subscription is any subscription generating revenue or in a grace period after a failed payment. It includes subscriptions with the following statuses:

  • active – payment succeeded and the current billing period is ongoing
  • redemption – subscription is in a grace period after a failed charge, with retries in progress and customer access maintained

Excludes free and paid trials and unpaid subscriptions.

Active trials

An active trial is any subscription in a trial period, whether free or paid.

Trials converted

Trials converted counts trials that converted to a paid subscription within the last 30 days. This is a raw count, not a conversion rate.

Trials created

Trials created is the number of new trial subscriptions started on the most recent day of available data. This count is always for a single day, not the selected date range, and may reflect yesterday rather than today if the current day’s data has not finished processing.

Trial conversion rate

Trial conversion rate is the percentage of trials started in a given period that converted to a paid subscription after the trial ended. Only completed trials (cancelled or charged) are included – trials still in progress are excluded until their outcome is known.

Calculation formula:

Trial conversion rate = converted of ended ÷ trials ended

Where:

  • converted of ended – trials that ended and converted to paid in the period
  • trials ended – trials whose trial period ended in the period

Example:

In March, 400 trials ended. Of those, 140 converted to a paid subscription.

Trial conversion rate: 140 ÷ 400 = 35%

Active customers

An active customer is a unique paying customer who holds at least one subscription in an active or redemption status at the end of the period. A single customer with multiple active subscriptions counts as one.

New vs. churned customers

  • New customers are customers who activated their first subscription during the period.
  • Churned customers are customers who had no remaining active subscriptions at the end of the period.
  • Net customers are new customers minus churned customers.
Average revenue per user (ARPU)

ARPU measures average monthly revenue generated per paying customer.

Calculation formula:

ARPU = MRR ÷ active customers

Where:

  • MRR – total monthly recurring revenue for the period
  • active customers – total unique paying customers for the period

Example:

If your MRR is $50,000, and you have 1,000 active customers, your ARPU is $50.

Lifetime value (LTV)

LTV estimates the total revenue an average customer generates over their lifetime with your business. It uses a 30-day rolling churn window sampled at the last available daily data point for each period.

Calculation formula:

LTV = ARPU ÷ monthly churn rate

Where:

  • ARPU – average monthly revenue per active customer
  • monthly churn rate – churned customers in the trailing 30 days ÷ (active customers 30 days ago + new and reactivated customers in that window)

Example:

If your ARPU is $50 and your monthly churn rate is 5%, your LTV is $50 ÷ 0.05 = $1,000.
